Flint River
Baptist Association - Woman’s Missionary Union
The Associational
WMU was formed on September 20, 1902 with three charter
members: Griffin First, McDonough and Locust Grove. Other
churches represented were: Union, Milner, Orchard Hill,
Luella and DeVotie. At the next meeting all of these
and also Zebulon affiliated with the new organization and a
constitution was adopted.
The WMU had been involved in student education funds or
grants, in special projects for the Georgia Baptist
Children’s Homes and numerous other mission projects but
probably the one most significant project in its history
began in July 1940 when it sponsored the first encampment
for GA’s and RA’s at Teamon Baptist Church. This one single
project led directly to the establishment of the beautiful
Flint River Baptist Camp at Pomona, GA. Through the years
many young people in RA and GA Camps have responded to
Christian vocations.
The current WMU Council consists of: WMU Director: Joyce
Bradley; Asst. Director: Barbara McNeal; Children's
Coordinator: Linda Roy; Churchwide Missions Consultant: Ann
Lovin; Prayer Coordinator: Stephanie Bradley; Women
Christian Job Corp: Robin Bohn; and Support Ministry: Merle
Daily and Lucille Williams. For calendar information,
